I am often asked what kind of gear I use, or what I gear recommend.  There are currently several excellent digital camera systems by a number of manufacturers, and they all have their strengths and weaknesses.  This is true of almost all camera gear.  You should buy what works best in your hands and which you can reasonably afford.  I personally use Canon equipment because the menus and controls are more intuitive for me, but in some aspects, such as low noise at higher ISO's, Nikon is better.  In my opinion, the perfect camera would probably be a NiCanon, or CaNikon, as the case may be.  Since that is not currently possible, I use what I have, which is as follows:
